Client Programme
Macro plan

Justification
Initially, in week 1 and 2, there is a greater focus on low intensity mobility session. This provides a gradual return into exercise for the client. This allows the client to build flexibility in their joints which is very much needed, due to their surgeries and lack of exercises. this is evident in the research of Miangindula (2020), where they found elderly men had significant improvement in joint flexibility after enduring a mobility training programme. During this period of the macro plan, the client has one functional training session and one strength based session. As these session require greater recovery they are well spaced in the week, around mobility training to help aid their recovery throughout the week.
In weeks 4 and 5, the work load begins to increase as there is a greater focus on functional based sessions. with the first 2 weeks gradually familiarising their body with exercise, their body will be prepared to increase work load. the research of Lee (2008) provides evidence of positive impacts moderate exercise has on public health. Not only does this include physical health benefits but also a significant improvement in mental health, for example confidence and consistent energy levels.
Week 5 is the heaviest week yet, in the programme. this is due to the larger focus on building strength. building muscles strength improves a sedentary lifestyle in multiple ways, essentially improving overall health and lifestyle (Hill, 2015). Increasing strength will allow the muscles and rest of the body to become more resilient to higher work load. going forward, this means the client will be capable of increasing the work load and increase the speed of progression.
week 6 is a deload week. as the client has been training consistently for 5 weeks. Deloading refers to a purposeful reduction in training demand with the intention of enhancing preparedness for successive training cycles (Bell, 2022). if the client continued to train right through the 10 week programme, end results may have been negatively effected due to the fatigue of constant build of work load and intensity.
through week 7 to 10 shows a increase in work load as their body was well adapted to their new lifestyle and has progressed well through week 1 to 6. pairing this with the deload week (week 6), they have reset and returned to improve progression.
Meso Plan

The Meso cycle of week 9 shows that the client has progressed significantly from week one. this is evident from the longer durations of physical activity and being more frequent through the week.
Micro Plan

utilising compound lifts will introduce the body to high weight loads aiming to make joints more durable.
blood flow restriction is used to control weight load. not over loading too early, yet still promoting muscle growth due to the muscle having to work harder to contract.
necessary warm up and cool down offset the probability of injury which would effect progress.
